BASSETTI

Our History

The Origins of BASSETTI: Engineering Meets Innovation

Founded in 1992 in Grenoble, France, BASSETTI began its journey at the intersection of engineering and innovation. Its founder, David BASSETTI, a Doctor of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering, developed one of the first software solutions for material selection in 1993. This pioneering tool became commercially available in 1995.

With the release of Fuzzymat, BASSETTI empowered early clients, ranging from industrial companies to top engineering schools, to manage complex materials data efficiently. By 1999, the solution had gained significant traction, enabling users to manage technical information such as test results, processes, and product specifications.

Pioneering Technical Expertise Management

Recognizing the need for a more comprehensive approach to technical data, BASSETTI expanded its offering in the early 2000s with the launch of METFinder. This innovative software featured an evolutive data model capable of structuring large volumes of R&D information and tacit technical knowledge within a unified system.

From this foundation, BASSETTI introduced a proprietary methodology known as Technical Expertise Management. This approach enables organizations to centralize, structure, and capitalize on internal expertise and tacit knowledge, transforming scattered insights into an accessible, strategic resource.

The Birth of TEEXMA®: Technical Expertise Management Software

In 2008, BASSETTI took its solutions global. Its core software platform was rebranded as TEEXMA (TEchnical EXpertise MAnagement), which quickly became the flagship product for technical data and knowledge management.

TEEXMA expanded to cover a wide range of industrial use cases, including experimental data management, R&D process optimization, and knowledge sharing across departments.

Key milestones in the company’s international growth include:

  • 2010: Establishment of BASSETTI China (Hong Kong and Shanghai)
  • 2012: Opening of the Toulouse office to support the aeronautics industry
  • 2014: Launch of BASSETTI Canada Inc. in Montreal for the North American market
  • Software testing team formed in Calcutta, India
  • Paris office opened to strengthen national coverage

The Formation of BASSETTI Group

In 2016, BASSETTI formalized its international expansion and acquisitions by creating the BASSETTI Group. This structure allowed the company to scale strategically while expanding its portfolio and market reach.

Major developments include:

  • 2018: Acquisition of KNOWLLENCE and the creation of BASSETTI America in Chicago
  • 2020–2021: New French offices opened in Nantes and Lyon
  • Expansion into Germany (BASSETTI Deutschland in Munich) and further development in China (Guangzhou and Beijing)
  • Acquisition of 3DTRUST, a specialist in Additive Manufacturing MES solutions
  • Acquisition of ERELIA, focused on industrial weighing and production formulation software

Accelerating Growth and Knowledge Management Leadership

In 2022, BASSETTI welcomed the SIPAREX fund as a minority shareholder, marking a new phase of strategic growth. That same year:

  • MeetSYS was acquired, positioning BASSETTI as the French leader in Knowledge Management
  • ZYLIA TECH joined the group, strengthening expertise in LES (Laboratory Execution Systems) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)

Global Expansion into Germany and North Africa

Continuing its global momentum, BASSETTI:

  • Acquired MAQSIMA, a German software publisher, solidifying its presence in Europe’s industrial safety and compliance market
  • Entered the African market in 2024 via Tunisia, with the acquisition of a French company specializing in innovation training and consulting

This strategic move leverages Tunisia’s geographic position between Europe and Africa, allowing BASSETTI to support industrial digitization across both continents and drive innovation in emerging markets.

BASSETTI Today: Driving Innovation Through Tacit Knowledge and Expertise
